San Francisco was putting an ordinance into effect that will force all dispensaries to only accept patients that posses the state card. It would have forced approximately 75% of San Francisco’s patients onto the streets. This would deny these patients safe access to medicine. Most patients in San Francisco are priced out of obtaining the card, or are fearful of registering with the state, because of personal safety or patient privacy issues.

However after a long tough road, several patient advocacy groups put together a Patient Care Package that will assure patients safe access to medicine with their verifiable doctor’s recommendations. Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi’s office is working with these groups to get their plan into action.
